Yellow is gracious
warm and vivacious
ever expansively yellow.

There's daisies
canaries
bumble bees
ivory
curry
autumn leaves
yellow jackets
yellow gold
paper when it's very old
lemons
fires
sunnyside ups
baby chickens
butter cups
blackeyed susans
apple sauce
sparks
moons
yellow squash.

And as a name Yellow seems
as fine as Mrs. Brown or Green.

Green is so suitable
so multitudable
so ever wonderfully green.

There's trees
peas
frogs
sleeves
stones
olives
bottles
cheese
green with envy
green with fright
the hills of home
and water's light
fair maids' dragons
eggs
green thumbs
monkeys
houses
peppers
dung
tea
turtles
snakes
lizards
moss
meadows
lakes
rivers
eyes
pies
bugs and
goo.

I could go on 'til my face turns blue.

Blue is so fine
so very sublime
so ever beautifully blue.

There's skies
flies
blueberry pies
Blue Ridge Mountains
oceans
sighs
true blue soldiers
lonesome blues
wild yonders we go off into
bluebirds of happiness
blue moons
sapphires
dogs
shadows
tunes
bluets like baby eyes
lost love
soft lights
bluegrass music
summer nights.

I put my new jeans in with the reds
now everything's purple instead.

Purple's declined
my attempts to define
yet it's ever so palpably purple.

There's purple passion plants
and plumbs
for little Jack Horner's
curious thumb
moonlit snow on a wintry night
eggplant to my heart's delight
purple mountains majesty
amethysts
and royalty
orchids
violets
irises
concord grapes
and sunrises
rumbling rolling thunderheads
and cabbage though some call it red.

Red can be frightful
even delightful
but always surprisingly red.

There's glows
bows
wine and
roses
hawks
buttons
chili
noses
red sky mornings
red sky nights
Chinese red
and port side lights
red hot mama
little red hen
ruby red slippers to get home in
cherries
garnets
kidney beans
Mars
demons
two red queens.

Add some to yellow, heart o' mine,
orange is what you'll get every time.

Orange at least
is a veritable feast
ever so edibly orange.

There's orange marmalade
and mangoes
pumpkin pies
tomatoes
papaya
paprika
nectarines
mandarins and
tangerines
carrots and
those little kumquats
cantaloupes
and apricots
turmeric
cheddar cheese
all of this
and pekoe tea.

But the beauty of orange is only skin deep
when you bite into a yellow peach.
