The Yard The great egrets and blue herons hang around for nibblies and lizards, who are nibblies, which is bad because they eat the palmetto bugs, who're roaches, whatever you may wish. Occasionally we get to see wood storks. Above is a lucky shot of an adult and juvenile. Quite often we see spoonbills and ibis, snowy egrets, skimmers, pipers, quakers, gulls, brown and, in winter, white pelicans, buzzards, vultures and, well, just get out your bird book and we did just get a digital camera so check back for more bird pictures and also pics of raccoons, squirrels, opossum and maybe even the rare armadillo, not to mention (oh, go ahead) lizards, crabs, butterflies, dragonflies, snakes... well, there's absolutely oodles of wildlife back here. Did somebody say bugs? Here's Bruce ©2002 Karen Schirmer. All rights reserved. |
